Groupon Marketing Case Study: GoJump Oceanside Skydiving

GoJump Oceanside is a skydiving operation in Southern California that knew just where to turn to reach more thrill-seeking customers: Groupon. After working with Groupon successfully for many years in Germany, GoJump’s owners didn’t hesitate to contact Groupon when they expanded into the United States. So how did Groupon help GoJump grow? It brought the business visibility in the market and helped attract customers GoJump couldn’t reach through its own local marketing. Working with Groupon allowed GoJump to make skydiving a more affordable activity for customers who were considering jumping but hadn’t decided to take the plunge. Once the customers arrived, everyone at GoJump was pleased to discover that the Groupon customers were just like their usual visitors.

The success of its Groupon campaigns helped GoJump Oceanside expand its hours of operation to five days a week. It also was able to add three new staff members to handle the volume of customers the promotion brought in. Overall, GoJump Oceanside owner Mike Vetter says the relationship with Groupon has been very effective and is continuing to help the business become bigger and bigger in the market.
